Trek the Beautiful Tomales Point Trail in Point Reyes

STAY ON TRAIL AND DO NOT APPROACH WILDLIFE!! Started this hike at 8:30am on a Wednesday and there were only 3 other cars. Ended the hike around 1:30pm and the parking lot was jam packed and the entire road on both sides were full of cars! This is a great spot to see Elk but please do not approach the wildlife. It is rutting season and they can become aggressive very easily. And stay on trail give them more space than you think you need! Fairly flat trail except at the beginning and on the way back up from Tomales Point. And it’s difficult because you are in the sand too. My calves were hurting the next day! Most of the trail was covered in fog but got some great views of the ocean at Tomales point. Tons of wildlife! Elk, black tail deer, birds, snails, etc.

Elk everywhere!! And a close encounter with a coyote!! Had an incredible time. Slightly challenging but not overly strenuous. We didn’t go all the way to the end- we turned around at the stock pond past the elk reserve.

Beautiful trail no any issue. Don’t see much incline easy hike but 10 miles up & down …no birthroom, no cell service !

Amazing trail. It was foggy the day I went but still spectacular. The end of the point was impressive and seeing Elk so close to the trail was an incredible experience
