Hike the Enchanted Rock Summit Trail

We came right when they opened to catch the sunrise over the hill country. It was amazing. We definitely should have been more prepared and that's on us. Flashlights and better shoes would have been nice. We just used our phone lights. Came across a scorpion and made me think we should have had taller hiking boots. We both wore sneakers which weren't bad, but I went off a buddy's recommendation that the hike was easy and it wasn't terrible, just a little rougher than what we expected. We made it up there in about 25 minutes without stopping each way. The views were breathtaking. It was quiet that early and it was a great place for us to start our anniversary.

Went there bunch of times back in 2018. A great state area with the trailhead that leads you to the top of the rock. Usually it’s a free walk to the top but it’s steep incline but not too long to get up. My favorite spot is that one big rock and like to just sit and relax and also see the views around this area. I wish I can visit there again if I’m ever stationed near that area.

My first time visiting and I cannot wait to come back! We starting up the summit trail then cut off to the echo trail. Echo trail was about 2 1/2 hours round trip. We arrived @ 8:30AM on a weekday and there were hardly any visitors. More people started arriving around noon, but park was not crowded. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a getaway! $8 entry fee adult (I believe), and clean restrooms. Cute little gift shop, and they have a little snowcone truck before you begin the trail.

Wow, what an experience! It’s a definite must! I hadn’t expected to climb the summit especially after seeing how steep it is. Wear the proper shoes: good grip, not too old that they slide when walking. If you step in the water and then on the path, it’s very slippery. The trails are beautiful. For us on 7/27/24, the weather was perfect! We arrived at 7 a.m but will get there by 6:30 a.m next time.

Easily one of the greatest treasures in Texas. Had not been back in over 20 years. Our 9 and 13 y/o's had no problem making it to the top of the Summit Trail. Make sure that you have good tennis shoes with traction. The granite on both Enchanted Rock and "Little Rock" get really slippery when wet. I don't know if there's anything better than watching the sunset from there. Make sure you give yourself a good 40 minutes to get down and find your car....those gates lock promptly at 10pm!!! Echo Canyon Trail is AMAZING. Do not recommend if you have anyone younger than 6/7 or over the age of 60. Beware of the boulder canyon, but it's an amazing way to get over to Moss Lake.
