Uncover the Secrets of Annie's Canyon Trail San Diego

Annie’s Canyon Trail is a hidden gem in San Diego! The hike is short but so much fun. The highlight is the narrow sandstone slot canyon. It feels like an adventure squeezing through the walls and climbing up to the top. Once you reach the viewpoint, the views of the lagoon and the ocean are amazing. The trail is well-maintained, and there are signs to guide you. This is a great hike for families, kids, or anyone looking for something unique. I’ll definitely visit again!

This is a fun trail. Shirt, sweet, and great for kids, too. I'd recommend wearing good sneakers with nice tread or hiking boots because it can be pretty slippery in some areas. It has lots of scenic areas, but inky one bench that I witnessed. I think the difficult path is really fun and exciting to navigate through, very, very narrow, though. If you get claustrophobic at all, the difficult path isn't for you, but it's truly a beautiful experience.

Very busy trail. Go early. You need to find the parking area and walk around to the hanging bridge and then to the canyon. The canyon is spectacular but very small.

Great hike into beautiful coast hills of San Elijo Lagoon. The slot canyon was an unexpected delight! We have been planning to do the red rock sandstone slot canyons of Zion and Bryce, didn't even know that California had slot canyons! The hike is rather short. We took the slot canyon path, which was VERY nice. A few spots at the top of the canyon are crumbling, be very careful and beware of your capabilities and balance. Would recommend making this a loop and coming back via the switchback on the hills. Parking at the trailhead is in a residential area, please be respectful while parking there.

Coming from the East Coast where slot canyons are few and far between, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Annie's Canyon hiking trail. It isn't too challenging of a hike but in the short distance that it is, it offers plenty of views and some neat climbs through some narrow passages. I went early so there were no crowds and the view from the top was amazing and well worth the hike!
