Uncover the Secrets of Annie's Canyon Trail San Diego

A lovely little walk in the area. Only took us about 40 minutes but was nice to get out of the car and walk for a bit. Not a difficult walk if you walk often. More challenging if you are not someone who walks or exercises regularly. You don't have to walk through the slot canyon just to get to the top. No animals allowed in the slot canyon.

Fun, short trail through a slot canyon. Not good for those who are claustrophobic. There was a line around 9, does take a bit to get through. Plenty of areas to park. Also multiple options to visit other trails.

Coming from the East Coast where slot canyons are few and far between, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Annie's Canyon hiking trail. It isn't too challenging of a hike but in the short distance that it is, it offers plenty of views and some neat climbs through some narrow passages. I went early so there were no crowds and the view from the top was amazing and well worth the hike!

Beautiful views and very cool slot canyon. Some narrow passage but manageable- I’m a big guy- 270 lbs 6’1” and I made it. Takes about an hour leisurely. Great photo ops. Highly recommend. Lots of families and dogs. Go early. Street parking. Again go early like 8 am- gets busy.

I came at 6:40 PM. Parking was very easy since the rush is over. There’s a small door opening next to the gate to walk through. Not sure if there’s a closing time. Keep walking and there’s signs that tells you it’s the Annie’s canyon trail. The trail was easier for me as I am smaller. It wasn’t cramped as I’ve heard from many people. I used my fingers to pull myself up though. Wear shoes that have a grip. It is very slippery if your shoes aren’t correct. Lots of sands and small bugs so be sure to use mosquito repellent. Watch where you’re going!! There’s spiders hanging off trees. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this trail!
