Coastline Rejuvenation at The Spa at Terranae

I recently visited Terranea Resort with my family and two friends, including three young children, and our wives, intending to enjoy some drinks at the lobby bar. Unfortunately, what should have been a pleasant experience turned into a distressing encounter due to the treatment we received from the staff. While seated, our waitress approached and repeatedly questioned us about a lighter she believed we had taken, despite our polite responses denying it. My friend, a surgeon, was understandably offended by the implication. When we requested to speak to a manager, we expected professionalism and understanding. Instead, the manager informed us that any further interaction would result in our removal from the property. To make matters worse, two senior security personnel then arrived, informing us that we would not receive any service and could only remain seated without interaction. When we expressed concern about being profiled, we were told that if we mentioned “racism” again, we would be asked to leave. This incident was not only disrespectful but felt discriminatory, especially as it occurred in front of our children, our wives, and other guests. We even captured parts of the incident on video, which clearly documents the lack of accountability and professionalism we experienced. We are considering further action regarding this matter, as no guest should ever be treated this way. I hope the resort takes incidents like this seriously and makes changes to ensure all guests are treated with fairness and dignity.

Came for a long weekend away from the Midwest and was blown away by Terranea. Stunning hiking trails, great cocktails, amazing spa, yoga, fantastic food, and perfect poolside views. The staff clearly love the resort as much as the guests which greats a warm and welcoming luxury environment. Be sure to have dinner at bashi and visit Wendy at the boutique – she has great taste.

A one of kind resort with beautiful views and service with only con being prices but in the US if you want the luxurious stay this is the place to be. Beautiful grounds, rooms and scenery. I stayed with my family and we had a diaper explosion problem and the resort was so kind when we explained to them and sent cleaning staff and a bottle of wine on them. It was such a nice gesture and talk with them that it made the resort stand out so much more. I’ll definitely come back for another stay.

Amazing resort. I can’t believe we could see both sunrise and sunset from our room! We kayaked and then went to the spa. I especially love bashi, the Asian restaurant. And the staff is so warm. I loved loved my housekeeper. She took good care of us. I’ll be back. So worth it. Thank you Terranea

I'm disappointed with our recent stay. Terranea has been a favorite destination for my family and me for years, and we've frequently booked stays there. During our last visit, the food was lacking, which was unfortunate because while the resort itself was fantastic, the restaurants didn't meet our expectations even some of the guests leaving Catalina were complaining and asked us if we enjoyed our meal. This past weekend that we attended for our 10 year wedding anniversary, however, the food was excellent at Catalina, Nelsons and the bar. But unfortunately, the hotel seemed a bit run-down, and we were initially placed in a room with bugs coming out of the drain. An engineer was sent to address the issue, but he recommended we switch rooms as it was a pest problem. We requested a new room and had paid for an ocean view, but were only offered a room overlooking the roof and pool. Not wanting to make a scene, we accepted the pool view. Thankfully, the new room was bug-free. Additionally, we had asked for our vehicle to be charged when we first arrived, but when we picked it up, it hadn't been charged. Overall, this experience did not live up to the standards of a four-diamond resort. I'd suggest considering other locations, such as San Ysidro Ranch, which has better customer service--or likely any other destination would be an improvement.
