Sunrise Serenity at Pretty Place Chapel

Fred Symmes Chapel, aptly named Pretty Place, is a photographer's paradise! The panoramic views are breathtaking, offering endless opportunities to capture nature's splendor. The unique lighting at sunrise and sunset creates an ethereal glow that's simply magical. The cross framing the vista adds a spiritual touch, making every shot feel profound and timeless. Truly, this chapel is an unforgettable canvas for any photographer.

Our timing was bad. Unbeknown to us, the rain forecast was actually the flood warning. We had major rain getting here but seemed quite ok to us. Especially keeping in mind the rain we get at times in our home country. So unfortunately the views were not seen. Extremely thick mist and rain. But you could clearly sense the Spirit of God in the “house”. I get the beautiful feeling this is a Unique spot and hope to Return one day

First let me start off by saying pictures do NOT do this place any justice. It is a place that needs to be on a bucket list as a place to visit. It’s a reminder of Gods creation as well as a place if you want to find peace and solitude. I went up during mid-morning on the trike..276 is a fun little road that makes you regret every life decision (not really but fun road that’s like a mini Tail of the Dragon). Parking….plenty of it. Outhouses (they have 5 there..only one was clean). When getting there and going down the first set of steps to enter the building, that’s when you realize the majestic experience of what you’re about to have. There were about 20-25 people and everyone was sitting quiet other than to ask others to take pictures. The view….absolutely incredible; breathtaking per se. They are only open during the day during the week as they are booked solid with events for sunrises and sunsets..I can see why. Definitely make this place one of your “once in a lifetime” places that need to be seen. They do have a couple donation boxes throughout.

We absolutely love capturing weddings, proposals, and engagements at Pretty Place Chapel! Every time we're here, we feel just as excited as the couples seeing that breathtaking view for the first time. There's something magical about witnessing their expressions and knowing we're preserving those moments forever. It's such a joy to deliver amazing photos that they can cherish for a lifetime. I would give this place a 5 star but upon arrival, security guard was absolutely crazy & screaming at the cars in front of us and driving crazy in the parking lot endangering people. His actions are not appropriate at all for a place for a person to go for worship. His temperament does not reflect well of that Beautiful place ! It’s breathtaking and serene. Just as so many have said the pictures do not do it justice! I would like to visit again during the week and watch sunset since we watch sunrise this morning! Visited 6-1-24 at aprox 6:15 am
